Feral children are believed to have undergone exploitation or trauma. Very often, they become subjects of legends and folklore as they are typically depicted as having been brought up by animals.

Feral children are also called wild children. They are human children who have been separated from human contact at a very tender age. It is clear then that they display no experience of human care, behavior or language.

It has been discussed that feral children may have undergone exploitation or trauma before being left. Some of them even elope from humans to live an isolated life amidst the wild. Very often, they become subjects of legends and folklore as they are typically depicted as having been brought up by animals.

Marina Chapman is one such person too. She claimed to have spent much of her early childhood in the woods with a colony of capuchin monkeys. She was around five years old at that time. She stated she was released to live in jungle for which reason she had no idea at all. After several years, she was rescued by hunters. At that point, she had no human language at all.

Marcos Rodriguez Pantoja is equally known as a feral child. He was seven years old when he was sold to a  hermitic goat-herder. After the latter’s death, he was left on his own with the wolves in the Sierra Morena.

It is only when he turned to nineteen years old that he returned to the civilized world but it was too late. He had a lot of difficulties adjusting to this new world as he has been living with the wolves and adapting to their ways for so many years.

A Ph.D. thesis was even written on him by Gabriel Janer Manila. The title was I Have Played With Wolves.

Surprisingly, in 2018, he mentioned in an interview he was very upset with the human nature and wished he could go back to the wild and leave behind this so-called civilized society.

Oxana Malaya is another eight year old girl who had spent six years with black Russian Terriers. It is in 1991 that she was found in a kennel. Her parents were actually alcoholics and had thus neglected her a great deal. At that time, she was three years old and looking for comfort and attention, she ended up snuggling in with the dogs.
