The former president of the French republic, Jacques Chirac took his last breath this Thursday morning at the age of 86.

The National Assembly observed a minute of silence in tribute to the former president.
As a reminder, Jacques Chirac served as the country’s prime minister twice from 1974 to 1976 and 1986 to 1988 and president from 1995 to 2007.
