Who says fairies do not exist? Meet modern Fairy Tinkerbell in person, this time not with a magical wand to save the humanity from the global pandemic but with more than a handful of protective gloves and face masks which she strived for medical workers.
At such a tender age, 15-year-old Valerie Xu is already a step forward into fighting the global pandemic – the deadly coronavirus. She learned from a family friend that a doctor was forced to wear the same face mask for several days.
This news was worrisome to the teenager. “We’re supposed to be considered the richest country in the world, yet doctors and nurses fighting on the front line cannot get proper protection”, she bluntly added.
She, therefore, built up her own campaign which raised more than $3,800. This little American even donated her own pocket money to the cause.
Valerie Xu has a soft corner for the Asian Americans upon whom she firmly believes all racial atrocities must come to an end. She convincingly stated that “If there is one thing that I have learned from this experience, it is that people care and are willing to help our community, which is the truth of our American spirit.”
