Ease of lockdown in the United States has been costly as the citizens celebrate Memorial Day this weekend.
Dr Stephen M. Hahn, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration reminded the population that “With the country starting to open up this holiday weekend, I again remind everyone that the coronavirus is not yet contained,” however the country has recorded new spikes in coronavirus cases.
This weekend, large groups of Americans went to celebrate the Memorial Day at the parks, restaurants and bars. Although the beachgoer Steve Ricks witnessed that “there are literally thousands of people out here on the beach, and what I’m really pleased to see is that many of these folks, almost all of them, are doing a great job with social distancing” the situation was the contrary. Approximately forty percent of people have been tested with Covid-19.
A video was shot at the Lake of the Ozarks where a pool party was held. It showed how a huge crowd squeezed together both inside and outside the pool. Their ignorance to health warnings has been costly. They all seemed to turn deaf ear to the social distancing warnings.
According to the experts, the United States is very much at risk. The infection has attacked more than 1.6 million of the population. John Hopkins University has even underlined the death of over 97,000 people so far in the country.

Dr Seema Yasmin, a former disease detective at the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention continues “Look at the numbers. You’ll see that on Thursday, more than 20,000 Americans were infected … that number went up, and there were more than 24, 000 Americans newly diagnosed with Covid-19”.
The situation is again alarming in the United States, this time this is owing to the negligence of the people.
Dr Stephen M. Hahn stresses that “It is up to every individual to protect themselves and their community. Social distancing, hand washing and wearing masks protect us all.”
