Uk police are investigating the deaths of the 39 people– 31 men and eight women, believed to be of Chinese origins, found in a truck container in Essex.
The prime suspect, namely the truck driver is still detained after being arrested in early hours of Wednesday following the discovery of the bodies in the back of his refrigerated vehicle.
The authorities arrested two individuals on Friday under the suspicion of human trafficking.
11 of the victims were moved to a hospital mortuary where they are undergoing post-mortem examinations to determine the exact cause of the deaths.
British police explained that the process to identify the deceased is a lengthy one.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying expressed in a news briefing, “We hope that the British side can as soon as possible confirm and verify the identities of the victims, ascertain what happened and severely punish criminals involved in the case”.
For years, illegal immigrants attempting to reach Britain in trucks have made the headlines.
