WhatsApp will stop operating on several mobiles in 2021. As it regularly incorporates new functions to its messaging application, these updates necessitate higher requirements.
Unfortunately, every year, a lot of mobiles become no longer compatible with the application due to an obsolescence process.
Even top brands such as the iPhone or the Samsung Galaxy are not spared.
iPhone models that WhatsApp won’t work on
All iPhone models that use an operating system iOS 8 or earlier will not be compatible.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus: Compatible with WhatsApp but need to update the version of iOS 9.
iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c: Compatible with the app, but need to update the version of iOS 9.
iPhone4S: Only those capable of updating to iOS 9 will be able to continue using the app.
iPhone 4 and previous models: Will not be compatible.
Android models in which WhatsApp will not work
WhatsApp will stop working on many Android terminals.
Specifically, all those terminals that have an Android operating system prior to version 4.0.3 – known as Ice Cram Sandwich, will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp.
That is, all Android phones that have an Android 2.3.7 operating system, known as Gingerbread, or earlier will be affected.
It has new features in the pipeline that will be available soon. These include:
- the options to install an account on different devices
- greater security in the encryption of messages,
- the option that the messages sent through WhatsApp will automatically self-destruct for the time that has been previously configured.
