Chandigarh, January 9

As part of the public awareness campaign launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the Viksit Bharat G Ram G Act, a public interaction programme was organised today at village Pone (Jagraon). Addressing the gathering, BJP State President Sunil Jakhar said that the Aam Aadmi Party is misleading people and diverting their attention, while the Congress party is merely trying to save itself. He asserted that it is only the BJP that is genuinely talking about the interests of Punjab.

Jakhar said that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party is deliberately spreading misinformation about this scheme to divert public attention from real issues, while the Congress party is opposing the scheme only to protect its political existence and to unite itself under this pretext. In contrast, he said, the Bharatiya Janata Party is the only political party currently working sincerely for the welfare of Punjab.

Jakhar stated that the new law has been framed keeping in mind the interests of the poor and labourers, so as to ensure that the rightful benefits of the poor actually reach them and are not usurped by leaders or contractors.

The BJP State President said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government is following the policy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. In this spirit, the new law has been introduced to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the weaker sections of society and to give a new direction to rural development.

Cautioning the people, he said that the sole objective of spreading misinformation about this law is to prevent people from learning the truth. Because if people come to know the truth, they will start questioning the Aam Aadmi Party government as to why it failed to provide 100 days of employment during the past years.

On this occasion, Jakhar said that the Congress party is functioning like a B-team of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and has failed to raise public issues or to raise its voice against the rampant corruption in the state. He alleged that Congress leaders have surrendered before Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and that the Chief Minister, in turn, has placed Punjab’s honour at the feet of Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, the law and order situation in the state is continuously deteriorating, forcing people to live in fear and insecurity. Jakhar recalled that during the Tarn Taran by-election, Arvind Kejriwal had promised to eliminate gangsters within a week, and now once again has announced “Phase Two”. However, nothing is happening at the ground level, and gangsters continue to kill the sons of Punjab. He concluded by saying that in such a situation, the people of Punjab are looking towards the Bharatiya Janata Party with great hope, as they have realised that only a strong and decisive government can pull Punjab out of this crisis—and that such a government can only be provided by the BJP.
