AAP has designed a nefarious plot to insult Dalits: Chugh

Chandigarh, April 12

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today launched a strong attack on the Bhagwant Mann government, stating that the repeated vandalism and insult to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s statues in Punjab reflects not isolated failures but a systematic and continuing pattern. A statue is vandalised by AAP MLA in Hoshiarpur, and before the outrage settles, the same site is attacked again. In Phillaur’s Nangal village, the same statue is desecrated multiple times. “This repetition clearly shows that perpetrators have no fear of the law and are operating with impunity,” he said.

Chugh added that the Republic Day attack at Amritsar’s Heritage Street, where Ambedkar’s statue was struck and a replica of the Constitution was targeted for burning, was an assault on the very soul of India. The appearance of Khalistani slogans and claims of responsibility by extremist elements make the situation even more alarming.

Chugh pointed out that within days of the latest Hoshiarpur vandalism, Ambedkar posters were torn in Fazilka, showing how these incidents are continuing in quick succession. “This is not random. This is a sustained and deliberate chain of insults aimed at hurting Dalit sentiment,” he asserted.

Targeting the AAP leadership directly, Chugh said the situation becomes even more serious when those in power themselves engage in such acts. Referring to the recent Hoshiarpur incident where an AAP MLA shared a garland with Dr Ambedkar’s statue, he termed it a “grave sacrilege” that has deeply hurt the sentiments of Dalits across the country. “This reflects the same mindset that has allowed repeated insults to Baba Sahib under this government,” he said.

Chugh concluded by stating that the BJP will never tolerate such sacrilegious designs of the Bhagwant Mann government. He demanded answers from Arvind Kejriwal and warned that the BJP will raise this issue across the country and ensure that those responsible for insulting Dr Ambedkar are held accountable.
