Chandigarh, January 8
The Department of Experimental Medicine and Biotechnology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, organized a guest lecture by Harpreet Kaur, a distinguished alumna of the department. She delivered an engaging talk entitled “Building a Scientific Career Across Continents.” Kaur completed her MSc (Medical Biotechnology) from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and is currently pursuing her PhD at Texas A&M University, USA.
The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students. During the session, the alumna shared insights from her academic and professional journey across India and subsequently in USA. She highlighted the importance of rigorous training, adaptability, interdisciplinary research, and global networking in shaping a successful scientific career. Kaur also discussed the challenges and opportunities of working in diverse research environments and encouraged young scientists to pursue excellence with curiosity and resilience.
The lecture concluded with remarks by the Head of the Department, Dr Dibyajyoti Banerjee, who underscored the importance of nurturing one’s passion in the field of science. He emphasized that sustained growth in research demands perseverance, discipline, and consistency, which remain the key pillars for long-term success in a scientific career.
