Chandigarh, March 31
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has said that unseasonal rain and hailstorms in Punjab have increased the concerns of farmers. He stated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party government should immediately take necessary steps to protect farmers. Farmers have already been struggling for a long time due to natural disasters and floods, and in such a situation, the government should support them and stand by their side.
Randhawa said that due to these natural calamities, farmers in Punjab are on the verge of ruin. Continuous rain and storms have left them exhausted. The wheat crop sustains farmers’ households throughout the year, which is why they nurture their crops like their own children.
Randhawa further said that Punjab feeds the entire country, yet these very farmers have been left to fend for themselves by the Aam Aadmi Party. Instead of taking steps to protect farmers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is busy serving former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Mann and his party have been claiming to be pro-farmer, but no concrete decisions are being taken in the interest of farmers. The government must take immediate and necessary steps to save Punjab and its farmers.
