Ludhiana, January 31

Senior Congress leader and Ex-Chairman of Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan’s push for the early operationalisation of Halwara International Airport has at last cleared the runway, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the much-awaited facility tomorrow, marking a milestone in Punjab’s aviation infrastructure.

Welcoming the move, Dewan expressed gratitude to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, to whom he had recently written a detailed letter urging the airport’s early opening to strengthen air connectivity in the region.

Expressing his views on the development, an elated Dewan said the opening of Halwara International Airport will be a game-changer for Ludhiana’s industrial landscape. He noted that the prolonged non-operational status of the airport had left entrepreneurs grappling with logistical hurdles, slowing growth and competitiveness.

Dewan emphasized that Ludhiana, being a powerhouse of textiles, manufacturing and exports, had long suffered from the absence of direct air connectivity, which proved to be a major bottleneck. “The airport becoming functional will give the industry the wings it deserves,” he remarked. Dewan also said that international connectivity would boost trade and tourism.
