The first meeting of the State-Level Action and Monitoring Committee, constituted by the Haryana Congress in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, was held on Friday at the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters in Chandigarh. The meeting aimed to assess potential challenges arising during the SIR process and to formulate an effective strategy to address them.

The meeting was attended by Rao Narender Singh, President of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee; Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition; B.B. Batra, MLA and Randhir Singh Rana, Advocate. Detailed discussions were held on the necessary measures to ensure transparency, fairness, and credibility in the electoral roll revision process.

Addressing the media, Rao Narender Singh emphasized that special attention is being given to ensuring that no eligible voter is removed from the list and no ineligible individual is added during the SIR process. A consensus was reached on establishing a robust monitoring mechanism at the booth level. The committee also decided to train party workers in each assembly constituency and familiarize them with the intricacies of the SIR process, enabling them to actively participate in their respective areas.

Singh stated that the Haryana Pradesh Congress is fully prepared to tackle all challenges arising during the SIR process. Referring to developments in other states, he alleged that there have been attempts by the Election Commission, allegedly influenced by the BJP, to manipulate voter lists. He asserted that such attempts would not be allowed to succeed in Haryana under any circumstances. He reiterated that the Congress Party remains committed to safeguarding democratic values and will take all necessary steps to maintain the integrity of the electoral rolls.

Singh further informed that the Pradesh Congress has appointed Booth Level Agent-1 (BLA-1) across all assembly constituencies and deployed Booth Level Agent-2 (BLA-2) in most booths. These agents will verify voter lists, assist in new registrations, and report any irregularities.

Concluding his remarks, the PCC President stated that the Congress Party will conduct the SIR process with utmost vigilance and responsibility to ensure it remains fair, transparent, and in full accordance with democratic principles.
