Chandigarh, March 17

BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur has written to the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), expressing strong objection to the derogatory and insensitive remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a public address on International Women’s Day.

In her letter, Jai Inder Kaur stated that referring to a woman as a “patola” and making comments about her appearance in a casual and mocking tone is highly inappropriate and objectifies women. She termed such remarks as deeply regrettable, especially on a day meant to celebrate the dignity and contribution of women. She further said that such statements from a person holding a high constitutional office send a wrong message to society and undermine the respect every woman deserves.

Jai Inder Kaur has urged the NCW Chairperson to take immediate cognizance of the matter and initiate appropriate action. She has also demanded that the Chief Minister issue a public and unconditional apology to the women of the country.
