The brutal murder of the nephew of former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sheetal Angural in Jalandhar clearly exposes that under the Mann government, Punjab is no longer ruled by law but by crime. Blood is being spilled on the streets, criminals are fearless, and the government is acting as a mute spectator. The slogan of “Badlav” has today turned into a feeling of fear and insecurity for the people of Punjab. This was stated by Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma, who launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government, alleging that the state has been handed over to criminals. He said that incidents of murder, robbery, extortion, and hooliganism are surfacing every day, but the government has neither direction nor resolve.
Referring to the Jalandhar incident, Sharma said that the police administration is functioning under political pressure, which has emboldened criminals to an alarming extent. Taking a dig at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, he said that both are busy with advertisement-driven and statement-based politics, while Punjab is living under the shadow of fear.
Ashwani Sharma expressed deep sympathy with the victim’s family and demanded immediate and the strictest possible action against the culprits. He warned that if the government does not take urgent and firm steps to restore law and order, the situation will spiral further out of control. Sharma asserted that this is not “change”, but a model of Punjab’s destruction.
