Chandigarh, March 26
The political temperature has risen following the mustard gunny bag scam that has come to light in Mahendragarh. Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra Singh, taking a sharp dig at the state government, said that this incident is a glaring example of the widespread corruption and administrative negligence prevailing in the state.
Singh alleged that the hard work and rightful dues of farmers are being compromised. He stated, “The government makes tall claims about prioritizing farmers’ interests, but the ground reality is that scams are occurring within the procurement process itself. Irregularities in something as basic as gunny bag arrangements clearly show that the system has completely failed.”
Singh further added that if transparency had been ensured in time and monitoring mechanisms had been strengthened, such scams could have been prevented. “This is not merely negligence, but a clear indication of organized corruption.”
The Congress state president demanded a high-level inquiry into the entire matter, strict action against those found guilty, and compensation for the losses suffered by farmers. He also warned that if the government fails to take concrete steps, the Congress will take to the streets and launch protests.
Meanwhile, farmers in Mahendragarh have also expressed anger and are demanding a fair investigation and a transparent procurement process. The issue has now taken a political turn and is likely to intensify further in the coming days.
