Chandigarh, April 11
Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa today visited the family of Malkit Singh and Gurmeet Singh of Zaildar Innovation and expressed strong solidarity with them, condemning the alleged harassment, intimidation and non-payment of dues faced by the family.
During his visit, Bajwa interacted in detail with the family members, who shared their ordeal. The brothers, who had left their high-paying jobs to start a trolley initiative for farmers, said that despite completing their work, their payment has been pending for nearly a year. Instead of being supported, they alleged that they have been subjected to pressure, threats, and intimidation.
Bajwa said it was deeply shocking that youth contributing to Punjab’s agricultural innovation are being harassed rather than encouraged. He remarked that the AAP government’s claims of promoting reverse migration and entrepreneurship stand completely exposed.
Taking strong exception to the conduct of AAP leaders, Bajwa alleged that Minister Hardeep Mundian and a party spokesperson used abusive language while speaking to the innovators and didn’t give them the payment, calling it a disgrace to public life and a reflection of the government’s arrogance.
Bajwa further stated that when the family demanded their rightful payment, they were allegedly threatened, with claims that even authorities and anti-social elements were being used to pressure them. He slammed the administration for failing to act and protect the victims.
Launching a sharp attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Bajwa said the government has created an atmosphere of fear where honest entrepreneurs are punished instead of being supported. “This regime is not promoting youth—it is crushing their spirit,” he said.
Bajwa also questioned the government’s claims on farmer welfare, alleging that during the floods, money was collected but failed to reach affected farmers. He said such actions expose the gap between AAP’s claims and ground reality.
Bajwa further alleged that trolleys used by farmers during the Delhi protest were taken away and are now being recovered from residences of AAP leaders, demanding full accountability and transparency.
Bajwa demanded immediate release of pending payment to the family, protection for the victims, return of the trolley or full compensation, and a public apology from those responsible. He asserted that while all other political parties stand with the family, the Congress party will ensure they get justice.
Bajwa also criticized the government for not accepting a resolution related to Bhagat Singh, stating that the Mann government’s priorities are misplaced and driven by optics rather than real governance.
“The AAP government has replaced governance with intimidation and propaganda. Punjab’s youth and farmers deserve dignity, not threats,” Bajwa said.
