New Delhi/Chandigarh, February 13
A joint delegation of organisations representing Punjab’s rice millers, flour millers and commission agents met Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, under the leadership of BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar. The delegation held detailed discussions regarding various industry-related concerns and suggestions.
Led by Chugh, the delegation raised key issues including a shortage of storage space for rice, concerns related to commission agents’ commission and other operational challenges associated with milling and food distribution systems. Chugh said that Punjab forms the backbone of the nation’s food security and millers, commission agents and agriculture-linked entrepreneurs from the state have served the country for decades. He emphasised that their concerns deserve priority attention and timely resolution.
Chugh stated that Pralhad Joshi listened to all concerns with seriousness and sensitivity and directed the concerned officials to ensure early resolution of the issues. He expressed confidence that the positive approach of the Central Government would soon lead to favourable outcomes, strengthening the industry and safeguarding the interests of farmers.
Chugh added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government stands firmly with farmers, entrepreneurs and every section of the trading community. He said the government remains committed to strengthening Punjab’s agriculture and food processing sector through dialogue and cooperation. Chugh, on behalf of Punjab, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government and described the meeting as positive and confidence-building for the industry.
Punjab BJP President Sunil Kumar Jakhar said that presenting the concerns of millers, flour industry stakeholders and commission agents before the Central Government was a meaningful initiative. He stated that the positive assurance given by the Union Minister has strengthened confidence within the industry and all associations have expressed satisfaction over the meeting and thanked the Central Government for its cooperative and responsive approach.
