Chandigarh, February 22
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today expressed grave concern over the killing of two Punjab Police cops near the border in Gurdaspur district, warning that this was an ominous development and must be taken seriously. He also called for avoiding rushing to the conclusion over mere speculation without thorough probe.
Warring recalled and reminded of a similar incident before the 2016 Pathankot terror attack, when a Superintendent of Police had been abducted and his vehicle was snatched. This was followed by an immediate terror attack on the Pathankot airbase, he pointed out.
The PCC president said that the police must not rush to the conclusion without due inquiries and investigation on mere speculations. He noted that the fact the incident has taken place close to the border demands thorough and comprehensive probe to reach to the bottom of the incident.
Warring pointed out that drugs are already being pushed into this part of the country from across the border through drones. “If the drones can carry drugs, they can also carry the weapons”, he said, adding, there is genuine and justified concern among the people after these killings.
