NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education, Dhamomajra, Patiala functioning under the aegis of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar in collaboration with Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre, TB Hospital, Patiala organised a seminar regarding AIDS. Amandeep Kaur (Counsellor, Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre, TB Hospital, Patiala) was the speaker of the day. On this occasion, second-year students of B.Ed course organized an awareness programme on AIDS/HIV during their teaching practice in various schools. College Principal Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand welcomed the guests and said that AIDS has reached every nook and corner of the society. She said that as would be teachers it is your duty to sensitize the society and make them aware regarding this deadly disease. She also added that we need to end the stigma related to this disease so that we can achieve the target of eliminating this deadly disease by 2030. While addressing the students Kaur informed about the causes, symptoms and precautions to be taken against AIDS. She also highlighted that there is a difference between HIV and AIDS. She further discussed that the aim of organizing such programmes is to make people aware regarding the problem of AIDS. She clarified the queries of the students regarding HIV/AIDS. She informed the students about the facilities and medical care given to the patients of HIV/AIDS. Rashmi Sharma (Senior TB Laboratory Supervisor District TB Department, Patiala), staff members and students also graced this occasion.
