Patiala Foundation Hosts Baradari Gardens Heritage Walk 2026

In an inspiring step towards environmental awareness and sustainable community engagement, Patiala Foundation successfully conducted the Baradari Gardens Nature/Environment Walk 2026, in collaboration with the District Administration Patiala and the Municipal Corporation Patiala, under the Patiala Heritage Festival 2026. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, nature lovers, and heritage enthusiasts who gathered early morning to celebrate and understand the ecological richness of Patiala’s historic green space.

Held at the iconic Baradari Gardens, the walk aimed to promote the importance of conserving urban biodiversity, protecting heritage gardens, and strengthening the city’s connection with nature. Participants explored the serene pathways of the gardens while engaging in discussions on environmental conservation, cleanliness, and the urgent need to preserve Patiala’s green lungs for future generations.

The walk was graced by the presence of distinguished attendees including  Varjeet Walia (IAS) (Deputy Commissioner, Patiala),  Simerpreet Kaur (Additional Deputy Commissioner) (PCS),  Deepjot Kaur (Joint Commissioner) (PCS),  Satish Chandra Field officer CMO, Jagdeep Sagga Deputy Mayor, Harinder Kohli and other respected dignitaries and community members who appreciated the initiative and applauded Patiala Foundation’s consistent efforts in civic and environmental development.

A major highlight of the walk was the active participation of students and staff from leading educational institutions of Patiala, including GSSSS Civil Lines, GSSSS Model Town, and Multipurpose School, along with Government Mohindra College and Government College for Girls, Patiala who attended the walk with their respective nodal teachers and faculty coordinators. Their presence added great value to the initiative by encouraging youth engagement in environmental responsibility and heritage awareness. Patiala Foundation also extended heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Sanjeev (DEO Secondary) and  Jagmeet Singh (ARNETU) for their valuable coordination and support in mobilizing school participation and ensuring institutional collaboration for the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Varjeet Walia, Deputy Commissioner Patiala, said, “Nature conservation must become a shared community responsibility. Baradari Gardens is one of Patiala’s most valuable heritage green spaces, and initiatives like this walk inspire citizens—especially students—to respect, protect and preserve such public assets. The District Administration will continue supporting efforts that strengthen environmental awareness and promote a cleaner and greener Patiala.”

In his address,  Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder & CEO, Patiala Foundation, said, “Baradari Gardens is not just a heritage space—it is a living ecosystem that reminds us how deeply nature and history are connected. Through this Nature Walk, we want citizens—especially the youth—to understand that protecting our green spaces is not an option, it is a responsibility. A cleaner, greener Patiala can only be achieved when communities come together with awareness, action, and pride for their city.”

The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Patiala Foundation’s team Dr. Abhinandan Bassi, Nishu Gupta (Coordinator), S.P Chand, Pawan Goyal, Rahul Sharma, Dr. Jaspreet Walia, Ravaldeep Singh, along with volunteers Satnam Singh, Sanyam, Aditya, Tarika, Kritika, Kawalpreet, Mohit, Krishan Kant, Nidash Eve Dhariwal, Sanya Srivastav, Ajay Kumar, Prisha Suri, Tanishq Garg, Vedansh Srivastava, Gurnoor Kaur (RGNUL Legal Aid Clinic), Pankaj (Modi College), Arshdeep Singh, Sukhpreet Singh, Karambeer Singh, Sarvesh, Krish Kumar, Dhruv, Naman, Lakash, Ishaan, Sukhmanpreet, Manjot, Dikshant, Poornima, Sanjna (Modi College) and others who ensured smooth coordination, participant support, and on-ground management throughout the walk.

Patiala Foundation extended sincere gratitude to the District Administration Patiala and the Municipal Corporation Patiala for their support and collaboration in making the event impactful and well-organized.

The initiative concluded with a collective pledge by participants to actively contribute towards maintaining cleanliness, reducing plastic usage, and safeguarding the city’s environment. With the successful execution of the Baradari Gardens Nature/Environment Walk 2026, Patiala Foundation reaffirms its commitment to creating meaningful initiatives that promote heritage preservation, civic awareness, and environmental responsibility.
