Reinforcing its commitment towards environmental sustainability, Patiala Foundation successfully organized a second workshop entitled “Save Water: Think, Act, Preserve” at the Government State College of Education, Patiala. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India.

The workshop was held under Project PRITHVI, an initiative of Patiala Foundation aimed at promoting sustainable practices, environmental awareness, and responsible living among communities, particularly the youth.

The session began with a pre-activity assessment, encouraging students to reflect on their understanding of water usage and conservation. This was followed by an insightful session which has been conceptualised by Founder and CEO Patiala Foundation, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia.

The sessions of the workshop were initiated with a conversation on the consumption of clean and safe water and water-borne diseases, delivered by Dr. Tarika Walia, who also highlighted the types, causes, and preventive measures related to such diseases, while emphasizing the importance of protecting water resources to ensure public health.

Further enriching the workshop, Nishu Gupta shared practical insights through a meaningful presentation on how individuals can think, act, and preserve water through everyday actions. Her session included activity-based learning, real-life examples, and actionable strategies to promote responsible water usage amongst the participants.

Through these guided and structured discussions and engaging activities under this workshop, students explored critical issues such as water wastage, sustainable consumption, and conservation techniques, including reuse, mindful usage, and rainwater harvesting. The workshop focused on converting awareness into action by encouraging students to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives. The activities were supported by the dedicated intern of Patiala Foundation, Navdeep from DSW, Punjabi University, ensuring smooth execution and enthusiastic participation from all the students.

Patiala Foundation resonates with the objectives of the Sustainable goals under Project PRITHVI, especially SD 6, whereby highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, Mr. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia leads the vision for every student through his message, “The future of water conservation depends on the choices we make today. By adopting simple, mindful habits in our daily lives, we can collectively safeguard this vital resource for generations to come.” That was conveyed to all the students at the end of the workshop.

The organizing team extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of the Government State College of Education, especially Prof. Dr. Vaneeta Rani (Principal), Dr. Alka Dhariwal, Dr. Chetan Sharma, and Dr. Yogita Sarwal, Assistant Professors, for their valuable support and coordination in making the session successful.
