PU VC inaugurates merged teachers flats

Chandigarh, December 18 

Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University inaugurated the merged teachers flats, which have been renamed NTF1 in Panjab University. Prof. Yojna Rawat, Dean of University Instruction and Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar also graced the occasion. The members of PUTA, wardens, faculty members were also in attendance.

The teacher flats were earlier unoccupied due to their small size, so there was a consistent demand from PUTA to merge two smaller flats into one. The area of old flats was 360 sq. ft. which has now been increased to 720 sq. ft. One dwelling unit now comprises 1 drawing dining, two bedrooms, two washrooms, and one large kitchen. Flat nos. 1, 2 (GF), 6, 7 (FF), 10,11 (SF), 14,15 (TF) have been merged into 4 flats. One tower of eight flats has been converted into four merged flats up to 3rd floor on pilot basis. In the next phase, total 22 flats will be converted into 11 merged flats.

Anil Thakur, Executive Engineer-II, Panjab University, Project In-charge informed those present that the work has been completed in a short time span of 5 months and in the most economical manner.

Prof. Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University interacted with nearby residents and was quite appreciative of the efforts of the Maintenance Division of Panjab University for completion of this and similar projects efficiently.

Prof Vig also interacted with the newly appointed faculty members. The Faculty members appreciated the support provided by Vice Chancellor and the efforts made by the PUTA to meet the demands of new faculty. The PUTA president, Prof. Naura expressed his gratitude towards Executive Engineer-II, Er. Anil Thakur for taking the initiative to finish the work in time and meeting the long pending demand of PUTA.
