The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and MP Kumari Selja is currently on a five-day visit to Uttarakhand, where she is participating in political, social and religious engagements across the state.

Addressing party programmes, Selja targeted the BJP government, alleging that anti-people policies have triggered widespread public anger. She said rising inflation, unemployment and neglect of public concerns have left citizens disillusioned, adding that a political shift in the state appears imminent. During a workers’ meet at Jai Bhagwan Ashram in Haridwar, she interacted with party cadres and stressed strengthening the organisation, intensifying outreach campaigns and preparing effectively for upcoming elections.

Selja urged workers to remain united and take the party’s ideology to the grassroots. As part of her visit, Selja paid tribute to martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement at the Shaheed Memorial in Mussoorie, describing their sacrifices as a continuing source of inspiration. She also visited Bishnoi Ashram in Haridwar to offer respects at the Dimodi of Swami Rajendranand Maharaj and later performed Prayer at the renowned Siddhbali Dham temple in Kotdwar, praying for peace, prosperity and public welfare.

Selja said her visit reflects the Congress party’s commitment not only to political engagement but also to social and cultural connect. She expressed confidence that growing public support and organisational strength would strengthen the party’s prospects in the state.
