Chandigarh, February 6

The ruthless daylight murder of AAP leader Lucky Oberoi outside a Gurdwara in Jalandhar is far more than a crime—it is a grim symbol of Punjab’s descent into chaos. This brazen act, committed in broad daylight, has exposed the alarming collapse of law and order under the Bhagwant Mann government. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh condemned the killing, declaring it a chilling reminder that Punjab is slipping into “complete lawlessness.” He warned that such unchecked violence not only endangers political leaders but also threatens the very fabric of peace and security in the region.

Chugh said that when leaders of the ruling party themselves are being brazenly gunned down in public, it lays bare the complete breakdown of governance and the terrifying surge of ‘gangster raj’ across Punjab. If those in power cannot be protected, what hope remains for the ordinary citizens of this state, he questioned.

“Kejriwal once vowed to rid Punjab of criminals and miscreants, yet his promises have collapsed into betrayal. Instead of peace and progress, Punjab has been dragged deeper into fear, drugs, organized crime and administrative paralysis. The Mann government seems obsessed with optics and publicity stunts, while the lives of Punjabis remain unprotected”, Chugh asserted.

Chugh further said, “My Punjab—once celebrated for its valor, prosperity, and resilience—is now being thrust towards anarchy by sheer incompetence and lack of leadership. The people of Punjab deserve more than hollow slogans; they deserve safety, dignity and a government that can truly govern.”
