Chandigarh, January 10
Punjab Youth Congress President Mohit Mohindra continued to mount his attack on the BJP, accusing it of misusing the name of Lord Ram to push anti-poor and anti-people policies, while completely betraying the ideals of both Lord Ram and his biggest believer – Mahatma Gandhi.
Mohindra said that one of the greatest followers of Lord Ram was Mahatma Gandhi, whose entire life was rooted in truth, justice, compassion, and service to the poorest of the poor. “Today, the BJP has betrayed both — Lord Ram as well as the Father of the Nation — by turning Ram’s name into a political tool,” he said.
Mohindra alleged that the BJP had conveniently misused Ram’s name to bring in a completely anti-poor law, which will push millions of vulnerable families into further distress. “Even Ram is watching how, in his name, the BJP has brought in a law that will bring over 6 crore poor families on the brink of starvation — with no food, no job, no income, and no guarantee of livelihood,” he asserted.
PYC chief said that instead of upholding the ideals of Ram Rajya which include justice, dignity, and welfare for all — the BJP had chosen to destroy the social safety net for the poor, while favouring a select few.
Calling for mass awareness, Mohindra said that this is exactly why Congress’ Sangram is extremely important. “This Sangram is a consistent, nation-wide effort to expose BJP’s sinister plans and to stand with the poor, the workers, and the marginalised. The Congress will not allow the BJP to hide anti-people decisions behind religious symbolism,” he said.
