Chandigarh, February 27
In order to strengthen transparency and ensure that benefits under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) reach only eligible and genuine beneficiaries, the Government of India shared with the U.T. Administration, Chandigarh, a list of 61,481 suspect beneficiaries. This list was generated after matching the RCMS data with databases of various Government of India entities, including the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and PM-KISAN.
The database of suspect beneficiaries was flagged on the basis of eight Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), namely: Suspected due to Aadhaar Status, Duplicate Beneficiaries, Gross Turnover, Income Group, Individual as Director, Land Holding, RC Member Above 100 Years, and Vehicle Ownership.
Accordingly, the Department of Food and Supplies & Consumer Affairs, U.T. Chandigarh, carried out a comprehensive field verification exercise of the identified beneficiaries.
During the course of verification, certain beneficiaries have been found prima facie ineligible on grounds including duplication of beneficiaries, annual family income exceeding ₹1.5 lakh, and discrepancies in Aadhaar status. The concerned beneficiaries were contacted at their recorded addresses and informed about their ineligibility. They are hereby granted a final opportunity to submit objections/clarifications along with relevant supporting documents at the Office of Food and Supplies, Sector 17, Chandigarh, within one week from the date of issuance of this notice.
The list of such beneficiaries is available on the official website of the Department. In case no objection is received within the stipulated period, the name/family of the concerned beneficiary shall be deleted from the NFSA beneficiary list in accordance with the applicable rules.
This is issued in public interest.
