Chandigarh, March 27
Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Anil Vij today reacted to the central government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs.10 each due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always takes complete care of the country’s citizens in every situation.
While speaking to media persons today, Vij said that due to the war in Gulf countries, the government wanted to ensure that people in India do not face difficulties. Therefore, excise duty on petrol and diesel was reduced by Rs.10 each. He added that while fuel prices have increased in countries like the United States, Pakistan, and other neighboring nations, the duty was reduced in India to prevent additional burden on citizens.
Responding firmly to rumors about a lockdown in India, Vij said that anti-national elements and those influenced by foreign forces constantly try to spread misinformation. He said that India has fought several wars in the past without imposing a lockdown, and the current conflict is taking place about 5,000 kilometers away from India. Such rumors, he said that are meant only to mislead and frighten people, and the public will respond to them.
Regarding concerns about a shortage of LPG gas due to the war, Vij clarified that there is no shortage of LPG. He said that some issues were reported by people from the Ambala Cantonment science industry, and instructions have been given to senior officials to resolve them.
