Dr. B. S. Minhas Memorial Lecture on India’s Economy in Geopolitical Flux on Jan 21

PG Department of Economics, A.S. College, Khanna in association with Dr. B. S. Minhas Memorial Forum and Society for Development Studies is organizing 18th Dr. B. S. Minhas Memorial Lecture on “The Indian Economy During Major Geopolitical Shifts: Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Perspectives.”

The Lecture will be held on January 21 at Seminar Hall-2, A.S. College, Khanna. Professor Indermit Gill, Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President for Development Economics, World Bank Group, Washington DC, USA will deliver the inaugural address. Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, Professor of Economics, TSLAS, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Deemed University), Patiala and Visiting Professor, Institute for Human Development (IHD), New Delhi, will chair the inaugural session and also deliver the keynote address on the topic: Punjab’s Economic Development: Grand Challenges and Opportunities, during the Technical Session – I.

Dr. Baldev Singh Shergill, Assistant Professor of Economics, Guru Kashi Department of Social Sciences, Punjabi University Campus, Talwandi Sabo, Punjab will be the discussant during the inaugural session. Dr. Kulwinder Singh, Assistant Professor, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh will speak on the topic: International Migration from Punjab Amid Global Volatility: Structural Drivers, Emerging Trends and Policy Imperatives.

Dr. Harleen Gill, Assistant Professor, Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala will address on the issue: From Migration Costs to Reverse Remittances: Rethinking Remittance Dynamics in Punjab, India.

Dr. Baldev Singh Shergill, Assistant Professor of Economics, Guru Kashi Department of Social Sciences, Punjabi University Campus, Talwandi Sabo, Punjab and Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Department of Education, Government of Punjab, Punjab, will speak on the topic: The Dynamics of Wealth Inequality in Rural Punjab: The Comparative Study of Two Villages, during the Technical Session – II. Dr. Manjit Sharma, Associate Professor of Economics, DAV College, Chandigarh and Amandeep Singh, Assistant Professor of Economics, SMHS Government College, SAS Nagar (Mohali) will speak on the topic: Rural Wages in India: An Inter-state study of Punjab, Gujarat and Odisha. Many other prominent economists will speak on significant topics during the Technical Session – III and the valedictory session.
