Ambala, March 12

The Congress staged a strong protest against the rising prices and shortage of LPG in Haryana. In Ambala, under the leadership of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Rao Narendra Singh, Congress workers took to the streets, raised slogans, and protested against the BJP-led central government. Haryana Congress co-in-charges Jitendra Baghel and Prafull Gudhade were specially present during the protest.

Providing information, Singh said that the protest was organized against the recent increase of about ₹60 in the price of domestic LPG cylinders and ₹115 in commercial cylinders. He alleged that the burden of inflation is being imposed on the common people in the name of the central government’s policies and global crises (such as conflicts in West Asia), while the government has failed to ensure adequate supply of LPG.

Singh said, “Before coming to power, the BJP had promised gas cylinders at ₹500, but now the prices are skyrocketing. The budgets of ordinary families are being disturbed, and dhabas and hotels are on the verge of closure. If the prices are not reduced, a large-scale movement will be launched across Haryana.”

During the protest in Ambala, demonstrators raised slogans such as “Remove Inflation” and “Make LPG Cheaper.” In several places, symbolic protests were also held by lighting traditional stoves to highlight the difficulties faced by common people due to the shortage of cooking gas. Dhaba operators in Ambala also stated that due to the unavailability of commercial cylinders, their stoves have gone cold and their businesses have been affected.

Commenting on this, Singh said that the silence of the central government on the hardships of the people indicates that the government has no concern for the problems of the public. He added that the protest is part of a nationwide agitation being carried out by the Congress, where disruptions have also taken place in Parliament and demonstrations are being held in several states.

The Congress has demanded an immediate reduction in LPG prices, an increase in subsidies, and the assurance of smooth supply. Otherwise, the Congress will intensify its struggle on the streets and launch a widespread movement to force the government to act.
