Chandigarh, February 12
The Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation & Criminal Investigation), Chandigarh organized an awareness programme on 11 February 2026. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Rohit Sharma, Director of Income Tax (Investigation & Criminal Investigation), Chandigarh and Gagan Kundra, Additional Director of Income Tax (Investigation & Criminal Investigation), Chandigarh.
The programme was organized with the support of the Chandigarh and Yamunanagar branches of the Northern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Members of ICAI, members of the Bar Association, bankers, and Tehsildars actively participated in the seminar.
The primary objective of the awareness programme was to provide information regarding the provisions of the New Income Tax Act, 2025 and to highlight the role and functions of the Directorate of Investigation & Criminal Investigation. Important topics such as filing of Financial Transaction Statements (SFT) in Forms 61A and 61B, and the e-Verification Scheme were also discussed in detail.
During the seminar, Rohit Sharma, Director of Income Tax (Investigation & Criminal Investigation), Chandigarh; Sarita Agrawal, Assistant Director of Income Tax and Meena Kumari, Income Tax Officer, Karnal, provided detailed insights into the key features of the New Income Tax Act, 2025, the role of the Directorate, and compliance requirements related to SFT filing.
An interactive session was held at the end of the programme, during which queries raised by participants were addressed. The programme concluded with an emphasis on strengthening coordination with stakeholders, ensuring better compliance, and facilitating the effective implementation of the provisions of the Income Tax Act.
