Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) president Dr. Anand Sharma delivered a guest lecture at Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Mumbai, here today. In his address, Dr. Sharma spoke on the crucial issue of the “Weather Hazard: Early Warning for Disaster Management and Sustainable Future.” In his address, he highlighted the complexities of weather-related hazards, the critical role of accurate forecasting, and the importance of integrating early-warning systems into sustainable disaster-management practices. Thanking Dr. Sharma, College functionaries said, “Dr. Sharma’s ability to translate scientific concepts into engaging, accessible insights greatly benefited our students and faculty. The session has left a lasting impact on our academic community. We are truly grateful for the expertise shared by Dr. Sharma.” Notably, Dr. Sharma, an alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University, had worked as Scientist-G/Head, RMC, IMD, New Delhi/Additional Director General. He had also worked as the Head of Social Media/Training Division/School Project/Agromet Division, besides serving as Deputy Director General of Meteorology at the Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi.
