Chandigarh, December 23
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that his party stands vindicated about its performance in the recently concluded Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections after the final figures related to the results have come in the public domain.
Quoting the latest figures, he said, the ruling party won 70 percent seats with a margin of ten or less votes. “That is what we have been saying from day one”, he said, while adding, “The AAP actually did not necessarily win all these seats as the ruling party forced the election officials to declare its candidate as victorious where the opposition candidates were winning with slim margins”.
The PCC president said that the claims of the ruling party notwithstanding, the fact is that it has actually been defeated in these elections, as people of Punjab have declared their verdict.
“If you discount the factors like misuse of official machinery, intimidation of opponents and the psychological edge that the ruling party normally has in such elections, the AAP has actually been defeated in these polls”, he said, while noting that its countdown has started with these results.
The PCC president reaffirmed his confidence that the people of Punjab were looking forward to the Congress to replace the AAP government, as it did nothing other than cheating people with willfully fake promises that it knew it could never fulfill.
