Chandigarh, December 31
The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has demanded the construction of two new railway lines Sirsa–Rania–Tibbi and Sirsa–Bhadra keeping in mind the overall development of the region. In this regard, the MP has written a letter to the Union Railway Minister, urging an early survey and approval of both railway projects. In her letter, Selja said the both railway routes are extremely important for the development of the border areas of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The Sirsa–Rania–Tibbi railway line will not only strengthen regional connectivity but will also provide direct rail access to Delhi, Sri Ganganagar, and the border areas, offering major relief to the general public. She said this railway line would prove highly beneficial for farmers, traders, and the industrial sector. It will facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce especially cotton, wheat, and other crops enabling farmers to get better prices, while also boosting commercial activities.
Selja said the proposed Sirsa–Bhadra railway line will serve as an alternative rail corridor connecting North and South India. It will benefit both passenger and freight transportation and give a fresh impetus to industrial development in the Haryana–Punjab region. She added that both railway projects are also extremely important from a strategic perspective. Being linked to border areas, these routes will be useful for the movement of the armed forces and relief materials during emergency situations. Selja urged the central government to conduct surveys of both railway lines at the earliest and grant approval, so that in the future the people of the region can benefit from improved transport facilities, employment opportunities, and overall economic development.
