Chandigarh, January 4
The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and former Cabinet Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has expressed grave concern over the rapidly deteriorating law-and-order situation in Haryana. She said the rising crimes, robberies, heinous offenses against women, and the growing fear among ordinary citizens clearly indicate that the rule of law in the state has weakened.
Referring to recent incidents such as the brutal attack on a jeweler in Karnal and the merciless murder of a woman in Panipat, Selja said these events raise serious questions about the state’s law enforcement. Criminals are committing offenses openly, and ordinary people feel unsafe, while the government appears completely incapable of controlling the situation. She said that no place village or city, market or street is truly safe. The increasing crimes against women are a blot on society and are extremely alarming for a progressive state like Haryana. Selja said that mere statements are insufficient; only concrete and strict action can rein in crime.
Selja demanded that the state government immediately enforce law and order, ensure the strictest action against offenders, hold police and administration accountable, and restore public confidence in safety. She said that the people of Haryana desire peace and security, and it is the constitutional duty of the government to ensure the protection of citizens’ life and property.
