Dehradun, May 11
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday attended the programme organized at Doon Sainik Institute, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, marking one year of Operation Sindoor – Valor, Honor and Courage. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and due to the bravery of the armed forces, Operation Sindoor was successfully executed against terrorism. Expressing gratitude towards the courage and valor of the army, he said that because of their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice, the enemy can never dare to look towards India.
Dhami said that Operation Sindoor will continue to inspire future generations. He recalled that while the entire country was asleep, the forces destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan within 22 minutes. He added that India’s advanced air defense system foiled incoming attacks, ensuring not a single missile fell on Indian soil. Within four days, the valor of the Indian forces compelled Pakistan to agree to a ceasefire before India.
The Chief Minister emphasized that in Uttarakhand, almost every family has a member serving in the armed forces, which creates a deep emotional bond with the military. He said that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, not only is the morale of soldiers being strengthened, but the army is also being equipped with advanced technology and weaponry. India is becoming self-reliant in defense and is exporting defense equipment and resources to many countries.
CM highlighted that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, defense exports have recorded a historic 38-fold increase in the past 12 years. India now supplies defense equipment, weapons, and other materials to more than 80 countries. He said Operation Sindoor has proven that India’s indigenous weapons are far superior to those of other nations.

He noted that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, several important decisions have been taken in the interest of soldiers, including the One Rank One Pension scheme, construction of the National War Memorial, increase in defense budget, and strengthening border infrastructure.
Dhami further stated that the state government has increased the ex-gratia amount given to the families of martyrs by up to five times. Various facilities are being provided to ex-servicemen. The lump sum and annual honorarium given to soldiers decorated with gallantry awards—from Param Vir Chakra to Mention in Dispatches—has been enhanced.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government has decided to provide government jobs to one member of a martyr’s family, while extending the application period for such jobs from two years to five years. Free travel in government buses has been arranged for gallantry award recipients and ex-servicemen. Additionally, ex-servicemen are being given a 25% concession in stamp duty on the purchase of immovable property worth up to ₹25 lakh.
Sainik Welfare Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi said that Operation Sindoor is not merely the name of a military campaign, but a symbol of India’s unwavering pledge that the honor of our mothers and sisters, the sovereignty of the nation, and the safety of citizens will never be compromised.
CM explained that Sindoor in Indian culture symbolizes respect for women, fortune, and strength. Naming the campaign Operation Sindoor carried a clear message that India stands firmly at every level for the honor and security of its mother power. He said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has repeatedly proven that the new India does not tolerate injustice but responds with a strong counter.
