Dehradun, May 28
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the Solar Awareness Souvenir Booklet on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, prepared by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). On this occasion, he said that this initiative is not merely the launch of a booklet, but a collective pledge towards building a bright, self-reliant, and green future for Uttarakhand.
Dhami emphasized that the world today is facing climate change, energy crises, and environmental challenges, and in such times solar energy is not just an option but a necessity for the safe future of coming generations. He highlighted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable success in the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, becoming an inspiration for the nation. The state has already achieved its initial target of 40,000 rooftop solar plants ahead of schedule, completing nearly 95 percent of the set goal, placing Uttarakhand among the top states in effective implementation.
The Chief Minister noted that since 2024, in just two years, the state has recorded nearly a tenfold increase in solar energy capacity, successfully installing around 290 MW of residential rooftop solar plants. He described this as a historic achievement in building an energy self-reliant Uttarakhand. He praised the coordinated efforts of UPCL, UREDA, regional officers, and all departments and institutions involved, calling it the result of Team Uttarakhand’s collective commitment and dedication.
Dhami further mentioned that the state government’s Solar Kauthig campaign, street plays, and special training programs for officers have created widespread awareness about solar energy. He appreciated the cooperation and significant contribution of the CEEW team. He stressed that the government’s aim is not just to install solar plants but to make every citizen an active participant in the clean energy revolution. He added that the widespread use of solar energy will reduce electricity expenses for citizens, strengthen environmental protection, and ensure a clean, safe, and green future for generations to come.
Expressing confidence, CM said that in the coming years Uttarakhand will establish itself as an inspiring and exemplary model for the country in the field of renewable energy.
