Chandigarh, June 30
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Chandigarh, organized a Consumer Awareness Programme at Gulmohar, RBI Chandigarh, for outsourced employees deputed in various financial institutions. Nearly 200 participants from RBI, NABARD, SIDBI, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank and others attended the event.
Regional Director Vivek Srivastava delivered the welcome address, highlighting the crucial role outsourced staff play in daily operations and stressing the importance of their awareness regarding consumer rights and responsibilities. Chief Guests Nivedita Tiwary, Chief General Manager, NABARD Haryana, and B. Ramesh Babu, Chief General Manager, NABARD Punjab, shared insights on financial inclusion and the need for synergy among financial institutions.
The programme featured expert-led sessions covering government schemes, skill development, deposit insurance, and postal financial services. Rajiv Dutt Hans, Lead District Manager, Chandigarh, outlined schemes for economic empowerment, while Ashok Kumar, Director, RSETI Panchkula, discussed training and entrepreneurship opportunities. Ishan Katyal, Manager, DICGC, explained deposit insurance mechanisms, and Rakesh Kumar, Development Officer, India Post, presented postal financial services. Sunil from RBI’s Consumer Education and Protection Cell detailed grievance redressal mechanisms and cyber fraud prevention, while Amit Kumar Saini, Manager, Protocol and Security Cell, RBI, conducted a session on fire hazard security protocols.
Anchored by Kamalvir Kaur and conducted under the guidance of Vivek Bansal, DGM, CEPC, RBI, the programme concluded with an interactive Q&A session followed by lunch. The event saw active participation and reinforced the commitment of outsourced employees to uphold consumer protection standards in their roles.
