Ropar, December 23

A transformative three-day Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp for Principals and Teachers of PM SHRI Schools being organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar is currently underway. The boot camp started on December 22 and will conclude tomorrow. Over 190 dedicated principals and teachers from PM SHRI Schools across the region are participating in this intensive capacity-building programme that represents a significant milestone in India’s educational transformation journey under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The bootcamp is jointly organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC), in strategic collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation, a globally renowned organization dedicated to entrepreneurship education and workforce development. This initiative aims to equip educators with the right knowledge, frameworks, and tools to effectively guide innovation in their schools and transform teaching methodologies beyond traditional rote learning approaches.

The programme was centrally inaugurated on December 17, 2025, by Prof. Sitharam T.G., Chairman, AICTE, Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, and Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman, AICTE. The launch event marked the beginning of a comprehensive three-phase training initiative spanning across 25 States and 2 Union Territories. The state-level inauguration at IIT Ropar featured distinguished dignitaries and senior officials from the institute, marking a collaborative effort between higher education institutions and school-level educators.

The three-day bootcamp offers participants an immersive learning experience that goes beyond conventional training methods. Participants engage in interactive workshops focused on design thinking methodologies and innovation pedagogy, collaborative group activities emphasizing problem-solving and creative thinking, and hands-on training with frameworks like the D.I.S.R.U.P.T model and Spark Quest for guiding student innovation. The curriculum includes practical sessions on developing business models using the Business Model Canvas, training on financial literacy and entrepreneurial planning basics, engaging panel discussions featuring insights from young founders and successful entrepreneurs, and opportunities to present and refine innovative ideas through pitch practice sessions.

Through this bootcamp, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurial mindsets that are essential for implementing NEP 2020 principles. They will acquire practical tools and frameworks to transform their teaching approaches, develop capabilities to mentor students through innovation journeys, and create actionable plans for establishing School Innovation Councils in their schools. Participants will also build valuable networks with fellow educators and innovation experts, returning to their schools as innovation ambassadors equipped to drive transformational change in their educational communities.
