Chandigarh, January 8
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday announced a subtle yet significant Cabinet reshuffle, fine-tuning the responsibilities of two ministers. Sanjeev Arora, who previously helmed Industry, Commerce, NRI Affairs, and Power, has now been handed the influential Local Bodies portfolio, while being relieved of NRI Affairs. With Industry, Commerce, Power and Local Bodies under his command, Arora’s stature within the Cabinet has grown even stronger. A Rajya Sabha member turned MLA after his victory in the Ludhiana West by-election, Arora was first inducted as Minister for Industry and Commerce before later taking charge of Power. The latest addition of Local Bodies now places him at the helm of three heavyweight ministries, cementing his role as one of the most pivotal figures in Mann’s team.
