Chandigarh, April 30
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia today launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government, accusing it of running a “politics of fear to save the chair.” In a strongly worded statement, Majithia alleged that sam, dam, dand, bhed tactics were in play, with the Punjab Pollution Control Board being “used as a political weapon against industrialists.” He linked the recent raids on Trident Group factories to the larger political churn, pointing to the exit of seven Rajya Sabha MPs from AAP and claiming that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party convenor Arvind Kejriwal were “rattled” amid fears of MLA desertions.
Majithia questioned the government’s credibility, contrasting its global investment claims with “raids on Punjab industry,” and asked: “What model is this?” He highlighted the case of Rajinder Gupta—once a favoured industrialist, now allegedly targeted after shifting loyalty. Drawing parallels, he said, “Punjab Kesari to Trident Group — same pattern: don’t toe the line, face action.”
Calling the current situation “political pollution weaponised to silence dissent,” Majithia accused the ruling party of double standards: “Action on Arvind Kejriwal = vendetta; action by them = law — paradox.” He asserted that “all these tactics cannot stop the govt from falling,” adding that “fearful regimes repel investment, not attract it.”
