Chandigarh, February 8

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, strongly criticised the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi for spreading misleading narratives against the India–US trade agreement. He said that whenever India takes strong and decisive steps to strengthen its global and economic position, Congress leaders attempt to damage the nation’s image by promoting baseless allegations on international platforms. He said Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly echoed narratives that weaken India’s diplomatic credibility instead of showing faith in national institutions and leadership.

Chugh stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has achieved two historic trade understandings with Europe and the United States within a short span, reflecting India’s growing economic strength and global confidence. He said the trade framework has been carefully negotiated with a ‘Nation First’ approach, ensuring that India’s strategic, economic and agricultural interests remain fully protected. He emphasised that the agreement provides new global market opportunities for Indian industries, entrepreneurs and youth, creating long-term employment potential.

Highlighting the protection provided to farmers, Chugh said that the agreement has completely safeguarded India’s sensitive agricultural sectors including wheat, rice, maize, dairy and livestock. He noted that despite heavy agricultural subsidies given by countries like the United States, the government has ensured that no harmful import concessions have been allowed which could affect Indian farmers. The detailed framework of the agreement clearly confirms that India has maintained its agricultural red lines while securing export benefits for domestic producers .

Chugh said the Congress party’s opposition reflects political frustration rather than policy understanding. He added that Congress leadership sees India’s rising global stature as a threat to its dynastic and corrupt political legacy. He said instead of presenting constructive suggestions, Congress continues to spread confusion and negativity which weakens public discourse and undermines national progress.

Chugh also expressed disappointment over the silence of opposition parties including the Aam Aadmi Party on such an important national achievement. He said Punjab and the entire nation stand to gain from this agreement as it strengthens industrial growth, trade expansion and employment generation. Tarun Chugh congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government for securing a balanced and visionary international trade understanding that will strengthen India’s economic future and global leadership.
