Ludhiana, February 24
InDeVet Summit 2026: Bridging Science, Policy and Education was inaugurated at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana. The inaugural ceremony was a grand opening attended by distinguished national and international delegates.
The inaugural day began with an Executive Round Table on “The Future of Indo-German Veterinary Synergy,” to outline a collaborative roadmap for 2026–2030. A second executive session focused on identifying joint research projects and strengthening partnerships between Indian and German universities.
Prof. (Dr.) Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing global partnerships. The Grand Opening ceremony was graced by talks from eminent dignitaries including Dr. Baljit Singh (University of Saskatchewan), Dr. Ramanuj Banerjee, Science Counsellor, Government of India at the Embassy of India in Germany, Prof. Dr. Uwe Truyen (Leipzig University), Prof. Dr. Uwe Rösler (Freie University Berlin) and Prof. Klaus Osterrieder (TiHo Hannover), along with representatives from partner institutions in India.
The speakers underscored the need for sustained Indo-German cooperation in veterinary research, innovation and policy engagement. It was followed by a session titled “From Lab to Legislation” to deliberate on implementing One Health solutions in public policies. The day concluded with a vibrant cultural programme showcasing Punjab’s heritage, followed by a Gala Dinner hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, providing an opportunity for informal interaction and networking among delegates.
Organizing Secretary, Dr R.S. Sethi, Dean College of Animal Biotechnology expressed that the inaugural day set a great tone for the following days of the summit.
