Chandigarh, February 27
A delegation of the Shiromani Akali Dal Chandigarh Unit on Thursday met the Administrator of Chandigarh and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria under the leadership of Charanjit Singh Villy, President, Shiromani Akali Dal Chandigarh Unit.
During the meeting, the delegation raised several important issues concerning the citizens of Chandigarh, including which included immediate implementation of the Anti-Defection Law, extension of the Mayor’s term and enhancement of the Mayor’s powers, permission for floor-wise registry, relief to Housing Board residents regarding construction-related issues and ownership transfer of GPA properties.
Besides, other issues including restoration of the Punjab–UT cadre ratio (60:40), change of official language from English to Punjabi, development of villages and colonies under Chandigarh, up-gradation of sector dispensaries and all hospitals in Chandigarh, protection of existing religious places, better management of the Smart Parking System, use of latest technology for effective traffic management, urgent need for Metro or Mono Rail in Chandigarh and fresh assessment of commercial property rates were also taken up.
Villy informed that the Administrator listened to the issues very patiently and assured appropriate action to address the grievances highlighted. The SAD Chandigarh Unit sincerely appreciated the time taken by the Administrator to meet the delegation and give a patient hearing to the genuine concerns of the people of Chandigarh.
