IISER and Semi-Conductor Laboratory enter into an MoU

In a significant step towards strengthening research and technological collaboration in semiconductor sciences and technology, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali today.

In a brief ceremony held at IISER Mohali, the MoU was signed in the august presence of S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY), Government of India. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, scientists, and researchers from the two organizations. Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, Director General, SCL Mohali, and Prof. Purnananda Guptasarma, Acting Director, IISER Mohali, delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance of collaborative research in the domain of semiconductors.

A briefing on the significance of the MoU was presented by Prof. Abhishek Chaudhary from IISER Mohali and M. M. Zafar from SCL Mohali. The collaboration is expected to promote joint research initiatives, student engagement, knowledge exchange, and activities related to semiconductor technologies and emerging scientific domains.

Addressing the gathering, S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeiTY, emphasized that such collaborations should begin with mutual workshops and increased scientific interactions between the institutions. He encouraged regular scientific talks and academic exchanges across the institutes to foster a vibrant collaborative ecosystem. He expressed happiness that two organizations with excellent resources within the region are joining hands in support of this important national mission.

The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Sudip Mandal, Dean R&D, IISER Mohali. The partnership marks an important milestone in fostering interdisciplinary research and strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem through institutional collaboration.
