Tewari Strengthens Attawa Security Net with MPLADS-Funded CCTV Project

Residents welcome enhanced surveillance as Tewari vows to continue pushing development and safety and security issues at every forum

Chandigarh, June 14

Continuing his endeavour to make the city beautiful , Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari inaugurated the CCTV cameras in village Attawa. The project has been funded through Tewari’s through his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds. The cameras have been installed across streets and key routes of the village. Their installation will instill a feeling of security among the residents, who also believe this step, will significantly augment security arrangements and help mitigate crime in the city.

In his address, Tewari congratulated the residents on this important project, stating that over the past two years he has raised more than a hundred different issues relating to Chandigarh and the region in the Lok Sabha. He emphasized that public safety, development and strengthening basic amenities remain his top priority and assured that he will continue to raise people’s concerns effectively. Referring to the recent firing incident at Shri Kumar Medicos, Tewari strongly condemned the act and stressed the need for further strengthening law and order.

Tewari  informed that he has already discussed the matter with the UT Administrator and the Director General of Police and other concerned officials. He demanded strict vigilance and improved policing in the city. Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky praised Councillor and former Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty as a dedicated and hardworking representative, always committed to resolving public issues. He said that development works in Attawa and the surrounding areas have gained momentum, and this pace will continue in the future. He urged people to unite and cooperate for the City’s progress.

Residents apprised Mr. Tewari that incidents of theft and anti-social activities had created an atmosphere of insecurity in recent times. With CCTV surveillance, every activity can now be monitored, aiding in the investigation of thefts, vandalism and other crimes, and making it easier to identify the offenders.
Social worker Tarlochan Singh Bunty highlighted that under the leadership of Councillor and former Senior Deputy Mayor Shri Jasbir Singh Bunty, Etawah village has witnessed continuous development. He noted that in recent years, basic infrastructure has expanded significantly, transforming Attawa into a modern and progressive village. The installation of CCTV cameras marks another milestone in this journey.

During the programme, Sector-36 RWA President Paramjit Singh and Arun Aggarwal proposed installing CCTV cameras in their areas through MP funds. Similarly, Sector-42 representative Rajkumar Sharma presented a proposal to strengthen security arrangements in his locality. The event saw participation from a large number of villagers, senior citizens, women, youth and representatives of social organizations. Attendees expressed gratitude to Tewari and Councillor Jasbir Singh Bunty for their efforts toward enhancing security and development in the village.

On this occasion, former Deputy Mayor Tarun Mehta, Dilawar Singh, Yadvinder Mehta, Rajkumar Sharma, Tarlochan Singh Bunty, Malkit Singh, Kulbir Singh, Pyar Singh, Pawan Singh, Baljit Singh and many other dignitaries congratulated the villagers on the installation of CCTV cameras. Residents expressed confidence that the cameras will not only improve security but also strengthen people’s sense of trust and safety in the community.
