Punjab Police Moves Tanda SHO to Lines Amid FBI Extortion Probe Inquiry

Punjab Police has shifted Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra, SHO of Tanda Police Station in Hoshiarpur district, to Police Lines with immediate effect after reports and social media posts linked his name to an alleged extortion investigation reportedly being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), USA, under “Operation Hardball.” As poer the official press note issued by the Office of the DIG, Jalandhar Range, the department has taken cognizance of the reports and ordered a formal fact-finding inquiry to verify the allegations.

The inquiry has been entrusted to the Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Jalandhar Rural, an IPS officer. The inquiry officer has been directed to examine all allegations, verify the relevant facts, and submit a detailed report at the earliest. The police said that the transfer of Inspector Nagra to Police Lines is an interim administrative measure pending verification of the facts. It added that any further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law based on the findings of the inquiry.
