Continuing its commitment towards road safety and community welfare, Patiala Foundation, under its flagship Project SADAK, organised a Reflective Safety Jacket Distribution Drive at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala.
The programme was conducted in the distinguished presence of Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice Chancellor, Kuldeep Walia, Director CIQA, Dr. Kanwalvir Singh, Controller of Examinations, and Dr. Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean (Academic). Prof. Sarabjinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan (Futuristic University), Anandpur Sahib, was also a special invitee to the event.
As part of the initiative, 30 reflective safety jackets were distributed to the University’s security and support staff to enhance their visibility while on duty, particularly during low-light conditions. The drive was organised with the support of KATALINE Ltd. under its “KATALINE Glow for Life” initiative, which promotes visibility-based safety measures across institutions and communities. This event brings the grand total to 386 jackets being distributed by Patiala Foundation under this banner.
Addressing the gathering, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder & CEO, Patiala Foundation, said, “Road safety begins with individual responsibility. A reflective jacket may appear to be a simple intervention, but it has the power to prevent tragedies and save lives. Every institution must become a partner in creating safer roads and safer communities.”
Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice Chancellor, appreciated the initiative and remarked, “Universities are not only centres of academic excellence but also institutions that nurture responsible citizens. Such initiatives strengthen the culture of civic responsibility and safety on our campus.”
The University administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that promote public safety, social responsibility, and meaningful community engagement.
Patiala Foundation also initiated a Helmet Bank for the University staff members. Under this initiative, staff members will be able to borrow helmets whenever required, enabling them to travel safely while promoting the regular use of helmets and a stronger culture of road safety on and off the campus.
Patiala Foundation expressed its gratitude to the University administration, faculty members, staff, volunteers, and KATALINE Ltd. for their wholehearted support in making the programme a success. Aadishwar Ahluwalia from Patiala Foundation also attended the event and interacted with the participants, reaffirming the Foundation’s continued commitment to promoting road safety and civic responsibility across Punjab.
