Punjab BJP State President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon has strongly condemned the desecration of the statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, at village Barian Kalan in Hoshiarpur.

Dhillon said that the attack on senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla and Punjab BJP SC Morcha State President Sheetal Angural, who had gone to protest against the desecration of Baba Sahib’s statue, was highly condemnable and shameful.

Dhillon said that the desecration of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s statue was not merely an insult to a great personality but also an affront to the Indian Constitution, democracy and constitutional values. He said that the occurrence of a second such incident involving Baba Sahib Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Punjab within a week was a matter of serious concern.

Dhillon alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab had failed to maintain law and order in the state and protect the religious and social sentiments of the people.

The State President said that the attack on BJP leaders when they visited the spot to express their protest against the incident was even more condemnable and could not be tolerated.

Dhillon demanded that the individuals responsible for desecrating the statue and attacking BJP leaders be immediately identified and strict action be taken against them in accordance with the law. He further demanded that the accused be arrested at the earliest.
