Chandigarh, November 17
12th Annual Transthoracic Echocardiography and Critical Care Workshop was organised by Department of Cardiac Anesthesia, PGIMER and Intensive care and Society of trasesophageal echocardiography. More than 110 participants, delegated & faculty members attended the workshop at Advanced Cardiac Center, PGIMER. The Organizing Chairperson – Dr Bhupesh Kumar (Prof and Head Department of Cardiac Anesthesia and Intensive care) and Organizing Secretary – Dr KP Gourav (Associate Professor, Department of Cardiac Anesthesia and Intensive care).
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof R. K. Ratho, Dean (Academics); Prof Harkant Singh, Head, Department of CTVS; Dr Ashok Kumar, Deputy Medical Superintendent; Prof Bhupesh Kumar and Dr K P Gourav. This year’s workshop brings together a distinguished international faculty, including Prof VK Arya (Winnipeg, Canada) and experts Dr Sujay and Dr Sukhen from the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Renowned national faculty Dr Murali Krishna from MGM Chennai.
Day 1 features included foundational lectures for Transthoracic echocardiography, a live demonstration of Porcine heart dissection for true anatomical correlation with Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) image, and intensive hands-on TTE training session on high-end equipment.
Day 2 focuses on the applications of echocardiography and ultrasound in crtical care setup, including haemodynamic assessment, shock evaluation, respiratory failure imaging, and ultrasound-guided ICU procedures. The workshop was followed by a one-week (17–22 November) TTE and TEE perioperative hands-on training module in the cardiothoracic operating theatres.
