Shimla, December 7
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President and Member of Parliament Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, along with senior party spokesperson and leader Trilok Kapoor, today launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, stating that the ruling party has completely fallen prey to internal divisions, indiscipline, and factionalism. They said that today there is no functioning Congress government in the state—only groups fighting among themselves.
Dr. Bhardwaj said that the recent Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held in Dharamshala exposed the deep internal crisis within the party. Despite the presence of two observers sent specially from Delhi, only 15 MLAs and merely 2 ministers out of a total of 40 legislators attended the meeting. This, he said, raises a serious question mark on both the Congress leadership and the stability of the government. The very purpose of appointing observers was to bridge differences and unite the legislators, but even while being present in Dharamshala, most MLAs chose to stay away from the meeting. This clearly proves that everything is not well within the Congress.
Dr. bhardwaj further said that this situation reflects that Congress MLAs no longer accept the Chief Minister as their unanimous leader. The deliberate absence of MLAs from such a crucial meeting despite being in town shows that their confidence in the government has completely eroded. The government has become hollow from within and could collapse at any time.
Senior party leader Trilok Kapoor raised serious questions on the role of the Deputy Chief Minister, alleging his continuous absence from Assembly proceedings and key meetings. He said that such irresponsible conduct from top constitutional authorities has severely affected the functioning of the government. “If those sitting on the highest posts shy away from their responsibilities, how will the state be governed?” he asked.
Citing another example, Kapoor said that one minister would merely mark attendance in the Assembly and then leave for programs in Dharamshala, without even remaining present during discussions related to his own department. On one occasion, the situation deteriorated to such an extent that the Speaker had to intervene and remark, ‘Who will reply to the questions related to this minister’s department? The Chief Minister should decide.’ This incident completely exposes the negligence and irresponsibility of the Congress government.
Dr. Bhardwaj said that for the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh, the ruling party itself failed to complete the quorum in the Assembly. The scene in the House made it appear as if the ruling party had split internally. This is not only a reflection of the Congress government’s failure but also an insult to democratic traditions.
Dr. Bhardwaj further stated that today Himachal Pradesh is being run by a fragmented, directionless, and unstable Congress government. Internal power struggles, factionalism, and leadership crisis have reached their peak. The government has completely failed in governance, and it is the people of the state who are suffering the consequences.
Dr. Bhardwaj concluded by saying that the Congress government is rapidly losing its existence and credibility. The people of Himachal are closely watching this chaos, infighting, and misgovernance, and in the coming time, they will give a fitting reply. He assured that the BJP will continue to raise the voice of the people with full strength and will expose every failure of the Congress government from the streets to the Assembly.
